iPad Mini may not be dead yet as rumor of 2019 model swirls

We haven’t been able to see a new iPad Mini since the year 2015, but a report suggests that you might see one arriving in the first half of the year 2019.

Apple will be launching 2 lower-priced iPad models in the year 2019 — one will be 7.9 inches and the other over 10 inches — Apple Insider reported on Friday, citing the China Business Times.

The 3-year-old iPad Mini 4 is known to be the most recent option for people who are looking for a small Apple tablet. Earlier reports have suggested that Apple may discontinue the line.

However, the Chinese newspaper reported that a new low-priced model of the 7.9-inch iPad Mini will be arriving by mid-2019, with production set to kick off in late December.

The other 2019 iPad is likely to have a screen larger than 10 inches, but it will be cheaper than either of the 2018 iPad Pro models (which were actually 11 inches and 12.9 inches). That one will be arriving in the second half of 2019.

The report also tells that Apple is producing these models after it actually saw “outstanding results” for the 2017 9.7-inch iPad.

The Chinese Business Times reports also suggested that Apple will be turning to Korea’s BOE for producing some of its iPad display panels rather than Japanese suppliers, in an effort to cut costs.
