Lightening in Florida – A Motorcyclist killed

The Northeast Florida hs bean experiencing huge lightning bolts. In fact, a motorcyclist was killed as a result of a lightning bolt. According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 45 year old man was stuck when he was travelling on the Interstate 95. The accident happened at 2 pm on Sunday.
The effect of the lightning strike was so huge and powerful that the lighting shattered through the helmet of the cyclist. The cyclist swerved around because of the impact and was thrown off the vehicle. The man died on the spot. Sadly enough, the deceased was not identified, the authorities stated. However, he has been identified to be from Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Florida Highway Patrol has tweeted the crashed helmet of the deceased with the following captiion-

Following the accident, all the southbound roads on the Interstate 95 were closed down. The routes were reopened after around 3 to 3.30 pm.
It should be remembered here that as per the National Weather Service report, an average of 49 people are killed each year in the United States due to lightning incidents. Hundreds of them are reported being injured, while a huge number of them are subjected to neurological impairment as a result of the lightning bolts and a lighter degree of strikes. Of all the cases reported, Florida accounts to the highest number of fatalities.
