Moderate coffee and alcohol consumption can aid life beyond 90

People who consume a moderate amount of coffee or alcohol while being overweight tend to live longer during their 70s. This study was confirmed by the researchers working at the UC Irvine Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders.

This study was initiated back in 2003 in order to under the factors that helped people live beyond the age of 90. The study revealed that the participants that drank moderate chunks of coffee or alcohol actually lived longer as opposed to the ones that maintained complete abstinence from the same. Additionally, the participants who were actually overweight during their 70s were found to live longer as opposed to the ones that were underweight or normal weight in the 70s.

Dr. Claudia Kawas, the key researcher of the study mentioned that there is currently no explanation for the same but the researchers do believe that modest consumption of these drinks actually improve age longevity. Kawas mentioned about the study at the conference held at Austin named American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Researchers estimated that the subjects that drank at least 2 beer glasses or wine on a daily basis decreased the chances of premature death with a mark of 18 percent.
