The CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau has recently announced in his interview that the company is going to continue its Dual phone strategy. The strategy of releasing two phones may seem easier on paper but its a lot more complicated than you may think. As per the strategy every year the company comes up with two phones with similar names just the difference of T pro or something like that. For example OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. This leaves customers with two choices either buy the more affordable phone or buy the more advanced one with advanced features.
Pete Lau said, “I think moving forward we are going to — at least for now — stick with current strategy by introducing two products; wherein one will be affordable and the other one be priced higher.”

On being asked about what made the company reshape its smartphone strategy, OnePlus CEO said, “When we decided to use the dual product strategy we think about the product itself. We want to provide the best user experience. Take OnePlus 7 Pro for example, for regular customers in the Indian market that’s a very high price but on the other hand, we really want to give our customer the best user experience that’s why introduced the OnePlus 7 as a more approachable product for more users.”
This is considered to be a smart move as compared to its competitors because OnePlus has not exactly abandoned its more affordable versions. They are completing the needs of two different types of customers at the same time.
