Whether it is personal or professional failures, we all go through times when we believe everything is lost. But that’s the beauty of life. It shows us the lowest of lows and the highest of highs. It proves to us that no matter how dark life may seem right now, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. We just have to keep our spirit up till we reach the light.
One such story that will make you want to keep going against all the odds is that of Mr. Steve Holbrook. Steve was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age two. While talking about the disease, Holbrook says, “Crohn’s is an autoimmune disease that could attack you anywhere from your mouth to your rectum and shut your entire body down. At the age of two, my joints were swollen, I had really bad arthritis, I stopped walking, and that was just the beginning.” But instead of letting his disease get the better of him, Steve chose to focus on building the best version of himself.
At the age of nineteen, he set sail on a 200-foot 3-massed sailing vessel for a trip around the world. For a period of three months, he, along with his friends, sailed through San Diego, Australia, Hawaii, Bali, and around the horn of Africa. However, Steve got sick on the ship and had to be airlifted home just before the trip ended. Steve says, “I contracted a rare lung infection and needed to have major lung surgery to remove the fungal infection.” His condition got so worse that he almost passed away.
Just like the rest of the hardships he had faced up until now, he didn’t let this near-death incident bring him down. At the age of twenty-three, Steve started working in the life insurance industry. Over the next 14 years, he went on to build a licensed agency of over 250 individuals across Canada and in the USA. Talking about his empire, Steve says, “My primary role in this business is to attract, train, retain and build leaders. I have been developing and coaching reps for 14 years. A big part of what I do is a mindset and mental toughness leadership training.”
Steve also runs a very successful blog. He is intent on building a strong online community of people that want to improve their life. Talking about his online presence, Steve says, “I’m one of the fastest growing social media influencers in Canada. I grew by over 30,000 followers in a year’s time, and the engagement level on my page is strong.” But he is not looking to become an influencer.
Mr. Holbrook is an expert at building leaders, and he helps people attain the professional expertise they strive to achieve. He specializes in teaching people how to better their identity, set goals and a plan to focus, and change their habits to change their life. Steve also owns multiple 7 figures of real estate holdings.
Inspiration comes in several forms. Sometimes it comes in the form of stories of people who have been through hell only to emerge successful. If there is one story you share today, make sure it is of this brave man who never gave up.
